HARARE – An 18-year-old woman who had failed to get a job as a maid decided to vent her frustrations in the weirdest of ways by stoning her 2-year-old baby to death.
The incident, confirmed by police, happened on Tuesday.
According to a statement posted on the ZRP’s official social media page on X, “Police in Mkwanise arrested Maria Zimvumi, 18, in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 10 December 2024 near Maranatha paddock. The suspect allegedly brutally stoned her baby boy (2 years) to death for unknown reasons.
“This was after the suspect failed to secure employment as a maid in Chiredzi Town.
“In an attempt to conceal the crime, the suspect carried the victim’s body on her back and made a report at ZRP Chiredzi claiming that the victim died after falling from her back.
Police inquiries proved that the suspect had made a false report to cover up for her criminal act.
