BULAWAYO – A 30-year-old woman was robbed and raped while on a night out with friends in Bulawayo, police said.
The incident happened just before midnight last Saturday, according to Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele of Bulawayo police.
The victim was at a night club near Mpilo General Hospital when she left to relieve herself at a nearby bush, Mselebe said.
She added: “When she was about 200 meters away from the club, the accused person started throwing stones at her. He then grabbed her by the neck and threatened to stab her with a knife if she screamed.
“The accused person dragged her to a busy area near West Park Cemetery where he raped her once without protection. After the act, he searched her pockets, took her Huawei Nova Y70 plus phone, cash amounting to R360, her earrings, and went away.”
Police have appealed for the public’s help with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
