GOKWE – A woman has been arrested in Gokwe after secretly giving birth and then dumping the child in the hollow trunk of baobab tree.
Deline Kademaunga, of Kademaunga Village in Gokwe South, gave birth to a baby boy who died within hours under unclear circumstances, according to police.
She then conducted the secret burial by dumping the body in the cavity of a baobab tree trunk.
Kademaunga is charged with infanticide over the July 5 incident, national police spokesman Commissioner Paul Nyathi said.
Meanwhile, police are investigating after the body of a newborn baby was found floating in a sewage pond in Mbizo 18 in Kwekwe on July 9.
