BULAWAYO – A 23-year-old Bulawayo woman is on the run after stabbing her husband to death during an ill-fated domestic dispute in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed Trish Ndlovu, 23, is being sought for the heinous crime over Hillary Mugiyo, 23, in the city’s Nkulumane suburb.
Msebele said circumstances of the sad incident that took place at around 2AM on Wednesday were still sketchy.
A neighbour said he was awakened by some noise as the couple argued over an undisclosed matter.
When he went over to investigate, he was greeted by a pool of blood both on the passage and spare bedroom.
He then enquired from Ndlovu who was outside the house as to what had happened and she admitted having a fight with the now deceased over an undisclosed matter.
Ndlovu reportedly admitted stabbing Mugiyo with a kitchen knife once on the neck.
The neighbour then found Mugiyo lying on the ground facing upwards with blood gushing through the neck but still showing signs of life.
While the neighbour tried to seek help for Mugiyo, Ndlovu reportedly vanished from the scene with her whereabouts still unknown.
An ambulance was called but could not ferry Mugiyo with it as he was pronounced dead on the scene.
A police report was then made with the body later conveyed to United Bulawayo Hospitals for postmortem.
Police have lodged an appeal for any information that could lead to Ndlovu’s arrest.
Coincidentally, the fatal incident happened as the country marks 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
