HARARE – The Zimbabwe National Men’s Football team flew off Friday to Rwanda where it is set to play the East African country and later host Nigeria in two 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifying fixtures.
Warriors boss Brito Baltemar left Harare with the local based group comprising Dynamos skipper Frank Makarati, Tanaka Shandirwa, Peter Muduhwa, Brian Banda, Obriel Chirinda and goalkeeper Donovan Bernard.
Saudi based Gerald Takwara also formed part of the travelling contingent.
The Warriors begin their campaign away to Rwanda on November 13.
A week later, they host Nigeria in a home match.
Both matches are set to be played at Huye Stadium in Butare, Southwest of Rwanda’s capital Kigali.
The decision to host their match away from their home fans in Harare follows the exclusion of the National Sports Stadium (NSS) from the list of pre-approved stadiums for the qualifiers by CAF.
Zimbabwe are in Group C of the 2026 Fifa World Cup African qualifiers together with Nigeria, South Africa, Benin, Rwanda and Lesotho.
