The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has lifted the suspensions of Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman Farai Jere, Women Soccer boss Barbara Chikosi and Zimbabwe Football Association board member Sugar Chagonda with immediate effect.
This follows a Zifa extra-ordinary general meeting held on 23 April this year which booted out former Zifa president Felton Kamambo, Phillip Machana and Brighton Malandule.
The trio is facing a litany of charges ranging from corruption to sexual harassment.
In a communique on Wednesday, SRC chairman Gerald Mlotshwa said Gift Banda will now act as interim Zifa president, while the football mother body cleans its house following their ban by the Federation of International Football Associations (Fifa).
Zimbabwe is not taking part in any international football competition after Fifa adjudged that the government had interfered with the affairs of football after banning Kamambo and his associates.
“The lifting of the suspensions is based on specific undertakings given to the SRC by the members of the Zifa delegation in their meeting of 29th April with the board of commissioners
“Banda was never the subject of suspension from the SRC. Chartered accountants have commenced their forensic audit into the financial and operational affairs of Zifa. Their findings will be made public,” said Mlotshwa.
