SHURUGWI – Police are investigating a knife-point robbery of two teachers from Rusununguko High School in Shurugwi, who lost cash and valuables worth more than Z$43,000.
Police named the victims as Carl Masvaya, a full-time teacher, and student teacher Tafadzwa Mandipa.
They said the two educators had just dropped off at Muchakata bus stop near the school around 10 PM when they were confronted by two bandits who emerged from the bushes brandishing knives and threatening to kill them, demanded cash and cellphones.
The thieves got away with Z$7,000 and US$6 in cash, two cellphones [an Itel S16 and a Tecno], two satchels with one containing clothes plus three pairs of white tackies shoes.
Combined, the cash and property are worth more than Z$43,000.
A report was made at Donga Police Post near Chachacha Growth point under RRB 4688901 and police in Shurugwi have appealed to anyone with information on the suspects to step forward.
