Scottland FC 1-0 Triangle

HARARE – Scottland snatched a dramatic last minute winner over Triangle at Rufaro Stadium on Friday as the 2015 Premier Soccer League season officially got underway.

Luke Masomere’s Triangle had looked good for the point but poor communication between defender Blessing Chiota and his goalkeeper Hamilton Makaingwana in injury time gifted the newly-promoted hosts victory.

A speculative cross into the box created unnecessary panic for the Triangle defence. Chiota used his chest in an attempt to send it back for his goalkeeper to gather not realising that Makaingwana had raced off his line and was also vying for the ball.

The duo watched in agony as the ball nestled in the net for an own goal.

Scottland, the northern region Division One champions, have spent over US$1 million assembling the best players in the country but there was evidence they are yet to gel as a team. The lack of cohesion in their play gave coach Tonderayi Ndiraya a poser, but he would have been happy to start the campaign with all three points.

Defending champions Simba Bhora get their campaign underway against FC Platinum at Wadzanai Stadium in Shamva on Saturday while CAPS United are on the road to Green Fuel on the same day.

Dynamos host ZPC Kariba at Rufaro on Sunday while Highlanders take on league debutants MWOS at Baobab Stadium in Ngezi.
