JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) says it has acquired rights to broadcast 34 live English Premier League matches for the 2023/24 season.
The public broadcaster said it had signed a new deal with Gemini Sports Media to show one Premier League match every Saturday for 34 weeks.
The EPL will be on SABC 3, the SABC Sport website and SABC Plus.
DSTV is expected to maintain its superior package of EPL matches shown every week.
The SABC said in a statement on Wednesday: “SABC is pleased to announce the acquisition of the world’s most followed football league, the English Premier League via a partnership with Gemini Sports Media through the rights holders Infront Sports France.
“The acquisition of the English Premier League is testament to the SABC’s commitment to continuously fulfil its public service mandate by providing access of sports of national interest to South African citizens.”
