HARARE – Zimbabwe senior men’s football team head coach Michael Nees has named a squad largely comprising foreign based players set to do battle for Zimbabwe in two AFCON 2025 Qualifiers against Kenya and Cameroon next month.

In his first ever assignment since appointment as Warriors dugout boss, Nees’ included United Kingdom born Udinese’s Jordan Zemura, who once threatened to quit international football citing alleged ill-treatment by then caretaker coach Norman Mapeza.

Tanzanian giants Young Africans and former Highlanders forward Prince Dube also makes a return to the squad amid hopes his inclusion will end the Warriors’ goalscoring worries.

Warriors regulars Teenage Hadebe, Marshall Munetsi (Stade de Reims and Tinotenda Kadewere (FC Nantes) also feature in Nees’s squad.

The German also ensured he was politically correct by including the trio of Andrew Mbeba (Highlanders), Godknows Murwira (Caps United) and Emmanuel Jalai (Dynamos).

The three teams have the largest army of Zimbabwe football supporters.

Hard working football star and Simba Bhora utility, Walter Musona has kept his place in the Warriors fold.

The Warriors squad will report for camp in Kampala on Sunday 1 September 2024.
