HARARE – Manica Diamonds took advantage of Highlanders’ inaction on Saturday to jump to the top of the premiership table after humiliating ZPC Kariba 2-0 in their own backyard in a Match Day 10 Premier Soccer League clash played at Nyamhunga.
The 2023 PSL runners-up got their goals through centre-forward Fortune Binzi and Jairos Tapera after 52 and 71 minutes respectively.
The triumph saw the miners leapfrog Highlanders who play away to Arenel Movers on Sunday.
At Barbourfields, struggling giants Dynamos played out their fifth draw in 9 games this season in a goalless affair away to Chicken Inn.
The drawn match saw the once dominant football outfit fail to retrieve itself from the bottom half of the Zimbabwe premiership standings.
In another clash played at Baobab, defending champions Ngezi Platinum beat Bulawayo Chiefs 1-0 to register their second win of the season.
Former champions FC Platinum also triumphed by a similar margin over Green Fuel at Mandava.
At Sakubva, Bikita Minerals drew 1-1 with TelOne while Herentals College were 1-0 victors over Khama Billiat’s Yadah in a clash that saw the highly-rated football star red-carded after 70 minutes.
Following Saturday’s Match Day 10 round of fixtures, Manica Diamonds are now first on 19 points.
They are followed by Highlanders, on 18 points
