HARARE – Dynamos head coach Genesis Mangombe has left the struggling premiership giants for Zanu PF politician Scott Sakupwanya’s Scottland FC.
Dynamos executive chairman Moses Maunganidze announced in a Monday statement the coach affectionately known as Kaka has tendered his immediate resignation from the club.
“We wish to advise all our stakeholders that the club has gracefully accepted the resignation of Genesis Mangombe as head coach of Dynamos Football Club with immediate effect,” Maunganidze said.
“We want to thank Mr Mangombe for the services he rendered to the club and for all the achievements that the club attained during his tenure.
“Whilst this transition may be difficult to some, the club shall always hold in high esteem his key competences and good workmanship. We wish him well in his future opportunities.”
The club has since announced Dynamos first assistant coach Lloyd Chigowe as interim head coach “until further notice”.
However, hours after his resignation, Mangombe has since joined ambitious Northern Region Soccer League side Scottland FC with images seen of the football mentor with Scotland director Brighton Bako.
Mangombe was set to be unveiled as new head coach for Sakupwanya’s club this Tuesday afternoon.
However, Mangombe’s departure could evoke mixed feelings among the Dynamos faithful after the Glamour Boys seem to have surrendered their 2024 premiership campaign and also do not look too ready to face the continent’s best in the CAF Confederations Cup this month.
