GWERU – A 43-year-old man repeatedly struck his elderly father with a stick after the now deceased allegedly tried to stop him from assaulting a neighbour.
Police confirmed the shock incident through their social media handles Monday.
“Police in Gweru have arrested Amos Tshuma, 43, in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 30/04/23 at Kurimakwakanaka Village,” police said.
“The suspect hit to death his father, Remias Tshuma, 76, with a walking stick indiscriminately all over the body.
“The victim had tried to stop the suspect from assaulting a neighbour.”
In another incident involving murder, a Zaka man suspected to be a thief was also assaulted to death in a brutal mob justice incident.
Police in Masvingo said they have arrested Elizabeth Chidya, 48, John Chikohwa, 26, Gift Chivasa, 39, Forget Kuzonyei, 32, Nqobule Mpofu, 43, and Takudzwa Mangava, 28, in connection with the Friday incident at Siyawareva Business Centre, Zaka.
“The suspects took turns to assault a yet to be identified man with sticks accusing him of being a criminal. The victim was found dead on 29/04/23.
“The other suspect, only known as Mahoya, is on the run,” police said.
Meanwhile, police in Gokwe are appealing for information which may assist in the investigation of a murder case in which the victim, Mapolisa Jemias, 38, was found dead, with multiple stab wounds all over the body Saturday, opposite a garage near Sunset Business Centre.
Police appealed for anyone with information that could assist in their investigations to report at any nearest police station.
