HARARE – A man was beaten to death by a mob in Harare’s Budiriro high density suburb for allegedly breaking into a 19-year-old woman’s home in the early hours of Friday.
Police said on Sunday that they were investigating a case of murder which occurred along Gunguwo Street, Budiriro, Harare at around 3AM.
The now deceased only identified as Honest was attacked by a mob that left him for dead.
“The victim was apprehended by a mob on allegations of unlawful entry into premises where he allegedly grabbed the complainant (19) who was sleeping in her bedroom, at a house in Budiriro 5B, Harare.
“The mob assaulted the victim using wooden logs indiscriminately and left him for dead. The victim succumbed to the injuries,” police said.
The body of the victim was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
Police have appealed to the public for any information that could help in their investigation of the matter.
Police said anyone with information on the incident should report at any police station nearest to them.
