MASVINGO – A Masvingo man died following a vicious attack by a suspect who accused him of stealing a pot that contained some sadza and chicken.
Police confirmed the incident which happened on Saturday at Village Midzi in Masvingo.
One Makneme Chikutuva, 41 is being held as the suspect to the murder of Maxwell Manjonjo, 42.
“The suspect allegedly assaulted the victim with ox yoke leather straps indiscriminately all over the body after accusing him of stealing a pot which contained sadza and chicken,” police posted on their official X handle.
“On seeing that the victim was having difficulties with breathing, the suspect carried Maxwell Manjonjo to Musingarahwi Business Centre, Masvingo and dumped him.”
Meanwhile, police have appealed for information which may lead to the arrest of Takunda Gwitira who is being sought in connection with the same case.
Police did not state how Gwitira is involved in the case.
