HARARE – Congolese Soukus superstar Koffi Olomide is in the studio in Zimbabwe collaborating with Rockford ‘Roki’ Josphat.
Olomide arrived in Harare on Wednesday afternoon and quickly got down to business with Roki at Passion Java Records.
Pictures posted on social media suggested the producer, Oskid, is fusing the sounds of the two musicians.
Tanzanian singer Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa, better known as Rayvanny, is also in the country collaborating with Roki.
The arrival of Olomide and Rayvanny suggests Roki’s new mentor Java is pulling all the stops to send the Uchandifunga hitmaker to the top of the music food-chain.
Roki recently released two well-received singles, ending a decade-long hiatus from the music industry.
Java last week revealed that Roki had recorded “over a hundred songs”, and the frenetic studio activity suggests an album is on the way.
