HARARE – Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation Minister Kirsty Coventry is expecting her first baby, she announced on Saturday.
The 35-year-old two-time Olympic swimming champion broke the news on Twitter, just days after she accepted an appointed to be a minister in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government.
“We are going to be parents in May 2019! What a week, what a blessing!,” Coventry said on Twitter, accompnying the tweet with a picture of herself and husband, Tyrone Seward.
Coventry married Chinhoyi-born Tyrone in December 2012 during a traditional wedding. Tyrone paid lobola in January 2013, after they both insisted on going through the African custom.
They met through a mutual friend in Johannesburg in 2009.
