HARARE – Highlanders finally broke their disappointing losing streak suffered in the recent past, posting a 2-0 beating of Yadah in a Castle Lager Match Day 23 premiership clash played at Barbourfields stadium on Sunday.
Bosso got their goals through Mbongeni Ndlovu 35 minutes into the match while a Washington Navaya setpiece at the stroke of full time put the icing on the cake for the football giants.
The victory was a welcome relief to the Bosso faithful that have seen their team’s title charge take a knock after two successive league defeats to champions FC Platinum and Chicken Inn with three points almost sure to be awarded to Dynamos in last week’s abandoned match between the Bulawayo giants and their rivals.
Meanwhile, in other Match Day 23 premiership fixtures played in different parts of the country Sunday, fading giants Caps United continued with their disappointing show following a 1-1 draw with Chicken Inn at Bata stadium.
Chicken Inn got their goal through Genius Mutungamiri after 58 minutes while Lincoln Mangaira restored parity for the Green Machine with a 64th minute finish.
At Gibbo stadium, FC Platinum’s Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya struck after 17 minutes to condemn 10-men Triangle to a 1-0 defeat.
Blessing Kagudu was given his marching orders after 28 minutes.
At Baobab stadium, Simba Bhora edged Sheasham 1-0 to complete Week 23 of the premiership round of fixtures.
Following this week’s matches, Ngezi Platinum cling to the top with 45 points while Highlanders are second on the league standings on 44.
Manica Diamonds are third on 42 while Chicken Inn and FC Platinum are fourth and fifth with both tied on 37 points.
Dynamos, who lost their match against Bulawayo Chiefs on Saturday, sank to six on 36 points.
