Highlanders 2-1 Dynamos
BULAWAYO – Highlanders opened their 2024 Zimbabwe premiership campaign with a morale boosting 2-1 beating of rivals Dynamos in the headline fixture of the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match Day 1 played at Barbourfields on Sunday.
Melikhaya Ncube put the hosts ahead after 19 minutes to allow the Bulawayo giants to go to the breather with a 1-0 lead.
Highlanders returned moments from the break to fire their second through Archford Faira.
Dynamos pulled one back on the hour mark through Alexander Mandinyenya but the goal was not sufficient to salvage anything except pride in a match that was watched by a good crowd.
In other premiership clashes played in other centres on Sunday, Simba Bhora beat Manica Diamonds 3-2 at Sakubva at Sakubva while Hwange were 1-0 victors over Khama Billiat’s Yadah at the Colliery.
