BULAWAYO – Highlanders CEO Brian Moyo has resigned four months into the job after the club opened an investigation into financial impropriety.
Moyo is accused of allegedly inflating invoices.
Highlanders owed Bulawayo Chiefs $18,000 for the transfer of two players but Moyo is accused of paying signing off on two invoices totalling $23,000. The allegation is that he converted $5,000 to his own use.
A statement from the club said: “Highlanders has received and accepted a resignation letter from CEO Brian Moyo. His resignation comes at a time when the club had already initiated investigations and a disciplinary process following allegations of corruption and misappropriation of funds.
“The club assures its stakeholders that due process will be followed to resolve this matter.”
Moyo replaced the late Sihlangu Dlodlo as CEO.
Highlanders is now looking for its fourth CEO in just over a year.
