HARARE – Highlanders beat Dynamos 2-0 at Rufaro on Sunday to complete a proud league double over their arch rivals in the headline fixture of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League weekend.
Goals in either half by McKinnon Mushore, after 27 minutes, and Godfrey Makaruse gave the visitors victory over the country’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Highlanders beat Dynamos 2-1 in the opening fixture of the season in March this year.
In other fixtures played Sunday, league leaders FC Platinum beat Chegutu Pirates 3-1 with goals from Jarrison Selemani after 22 minutes, Davison Marowa (30) with Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya putting the match beyond the reach of the premiership debutants with a late strike.
Chegutu Pirates got their goal through Simbarashe Domingo who converted from the spot 75 minutes into the clash.
At Bata, two first half goals by TelOne and ZPC Kariba ensured the clash between the service providers ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
Former champions Chicken Inn and Caps United played out a goalless draw at Luveve stadium.
Following the weekend’s league fixtures, FC Platinum maintain their lead on the league table with 38 points from 18 matches played so far.
Defending champions Ngezi Platinum – positioned second – are five points behind from the same number of points. They share the same number of points with Simba Bhora who are also on 33.
Manica Diamonds, on 32, Highlanders (29) and Dynamos (24) are number 4,5 and 6 respectively.
