HARARE – A wife to a Harare police officer has been named as an accomplice in an incident involving a house helper who was arrested recently for attempts to poison her employer.
This emerged after Nyaradzo Gosha, 18, was arrested weekend for allegedly putting poison in her employer, one Konai Muzhangiri’s juice.
It has emerged that the officer in charge of Glen Norah police station, where the case was reported, tried to play down the matter but was unsuccessful.
The matter was referred to CID Homicide before Gosha was taken to court where she was remanded in custody.
A leaked police internal memo gleaned by ZimLive shows that the incident occurred on April 28 2023.
It is alleged Muzhangiri had asked her 5-year-old daughter to prepare a drink for her.
Her daughter then filled a glass with undiluted Mazoe Orange Crush.
“Complainant sensed a poisonous smell from the Mazoe drink.
“She asked the accused person where the smell was coming from and the accused confessed that she had added rat poison, baking yeast, Jungle oats, and Fenugreek seeds into the 2 litre Mazoe drink,” read the official.
“The accused person told the complainant that she had done this in order to get rid of her since she was refusing to give her a chance to go out before the arrival of her sister who was coming to collect her.”
Muzhangiri then escorted Gosha to ZRP Glen Norah and filed a report.
Gosha was detained under DB 1028/23 and the Mazoe 2 litre drink was booked in the exhibit book number 30/23.
Investigations are in progress under ZRP Glen Norah RRB 5540876.
