HARARE – Girls outperformed boys in the November 2024 Advanced Level examinations, the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) said on Friday.
The overall pass rate was 94.58 percent, down slightly from 94.60 percent in 2023.
ZIMSEC said 33,585 sat for the exams, 852 less than the candidates in 2023. Of that number, 33,246 sat for two or more subjects and 31,443 obtained Grade E or better in two or more subjects.
The 29,041 school candidates produced an overall pass rate of 95.18 compared to 90.52 percent for private candidates.
ZIMSEC said girls outshined boys in the exams with 95.94 percent, while the boys had 92.05 percent – a difference of 2.81 percent.
It was all change from the year before when the boys had 93.95 percent to the girls’ 93.32 percent.
In total, 17,306 females sat the November 2024 elections compared to 16,092 males.
