HARARE – Struggling giants Dynamos’ bid to restore lost pride in the premiership took another knock on Sunday when they lost 1-0 to visiting Chicken Inn in a rescheduled Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash played at Rufaro Stadium.
Defender Xolani Ndlovu scored from a free kick after 71 minutes to hand their once mighty opponents another defeat inside a week.
The two sides played to a goalless draw in May this year.
Dynamos lie number 9 on the premiership table with 38 points from 28 games played while Chicken Inn are number 6 on 42 points from 29 games fulfilled.
Both sides are out of contention for the 2024 league title.
But spotlight would be on Dynamos’ less inspiring campaign this season.
The Glamour Boys’ hopes to end the season with their pride intact had been restored by a resurgent spell in August under Lloyd Chigove who took over as interim coach but that seems to be going south, even more painful when they suffered a disappointing exit from the CAF Confederation Cup last month.
Their poor season has been summed up by their back-to-back losses to fierce rivals Highlanders and lately, another defeat in the hands of old foes Caps United.
Their only source of hope now rests on the former champions’ campaign in the Chibuku Super Cup where they are also competing as defending champions.
Dembare face third placed Ngezi Platinum in the quarter final with the league champions never shy of scoring goals, having pumped 6 with no reply against Hwange on Saturday.
