HARARE – Caps United trounced Hwange 3-0 at Rufaro stadium on Sunday to emerge as biggest winners of the weekend’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League’s Match Day 10 round of fixtures played in different parts of the country.
A double strike by goal poacher William Manondo after 11 and 42 minutes plus a Hastings Chapusha strike 14 minutes into the clash ensured Lloyd Chitembwe came out of the weekend dugout with the widest smile among his premiership peers.
In a Bulawayo derby, Highlanders played out a goalless draw against Arenel Movers but regained their number 1 spot on the league ladder after displacing overnight leaders Manica Diamonds on goal difference.
At Baobab, Simba Bhora were 2-1 victors over Chegutu Pirates through goals by Perfect Chikwende 10 minutes into the clash with Tymon Machope doubling the visitors’ advantage 16 minutes from full time.
Chegutu Pirates scored through Cleopas Dube after 41 minutes.
Following the weekend’s premiership fixtures, Highlanders and Manica Diamonds are tied on 19 points from 10 games played each but the Bulawayo side top the standings on goal difference while the miners are second.
Simba Bhora are third on 17 points with Chicken Inn occupying number 4 on 16.
Caps United climbed to number 7 on 13 points from 9 games while Dynamos are positioned 12th with 11 points from 9 games played.
