BUHERA – A Buhera man who was returning from some prayer at a local shrine took an axe and beheaded his 11-year-old son.

Police are searching for clues on the motives of the gruesome murder.

The suspect was named as Tawanda Magoso, 32, who has since been arrested.

The shock incident, according to a police statement posted on the law enforcement organisation’s X handle, occurred at the suspect’s house in Daakoni Village, Buhera on 10 January.

“The suspect allegedly returned home from a shrine where he had gone for prayers and took an axe from his bedroom which he used to strike the victim indiscriminately all over the body,” police said.

“The victim’s head separated from its torso and sustained multiple injuries on the back. Resultantly, the victim succumbed to the injuries.”

The suspect was later apprehended with the help from members of the community.
