GWERU – A 16-year-old juvenile died in Gweru on Wednesday morning with his death linked to freezing temperatures currently being experienced in the country.
According to Midlands provincial police spokesperson Emmanuel Mahoko, the juvenile died on July 12 at around 5am at a pavement around Robert Gabriel Mugabe road in Gweru CBD.
“It is alleged that Nkhosiyazi Ncube, a male juvenile aged 16 years, suspected to have been suffering from mental illness eloped from home in the evening of 11 July 2023,” he said.
“His body was later found lying lifeless around 5AM
“Matter is still under investigation and the body was taken to Gweru provincial hospital.”
Mahoko said a post mortem will be done to aid investigation on exact cause of death.
The Meteorological Services Department urged citizens to keep warm as the country has been battered by extremely low temperatures since Monday this week.
