BINGA – A Binga villager was murdered by some unknown suspects who stormed his home to commit the crime before skinning his head and setting his homestead on fire.
Amion Bube, aged 65, from Mutundwa Village in Binga, was found lying in a pool of blood on December 7 at around 1900 hours at his homestead.
Matabeleland North acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Christopher Mahohoma said in a statement Bube was attacked as he just returned from the fields where he had been ploughing together his wife.
“On the fateful day, Amion Bube spent the whole day working in the field together with his wife. It was at around 1700 hours when he decided to go home leaving behind his wife in the fields,” Mahohoma said.
“After a while, the wife also followed him home and as she was approaching the homestead, she witnessed that their homestead was on fire and about five male adults she could not identify running away from their homestead. Upon arrival at the homestead, she noticed that her husband was lying dead in a pool of blood close to their bedroom hut.”
Mahohoma added, “The deceased was lying in a pool of blood on top of a spear and an iron bar near his burnt bedroom hut, facing upwards. The head of the deceased was skinned and it had two deep cuts, one on the forehead and another on the left ear.
“There was a blood-stained wooden axe handle beside the body. There were some struggle marks and five huts constructed with poles and mortars were burnt down to ashes.”
Mahohoma urged members of the public to desist from the use of violence as a way of solving their disputes and instead engage third parties for conflict resolution.
He appealed for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
