Mauritius 0-4 Zimbabwe
CUREPIPE, Mauritius – Leeroy Mavhunga and Never Tigere grabbed a brace each as rampant Zimbabwe claimed a first leg win over Mauritius in the second round of the African Nations Championship qualifiers in Curepipe on Monday.
The Warriors, under caretaker coach Rahman Gumbo, took the lead on 19 minutes as Tigere found the target before Mavhunga got his first on the stroke of half-time.
Tigere returned to torment the hosts four minutes after the hour mark before Mavhunga applied the coup de grâce three minutes from the end.
The Warriors will play the reverse fixture at Barbourfields on Sunday.
The tournament, featuring players plying their trade in domestic leagues, will culminate in the finals being hosted by Cameroon next year.
