HARARE – Award winning air carrier Fastjet has launched a new scheduled flight service connecting Zimbabwe and Zambia’s capital cities of Harare and Lusaka.

The route, according to the air carrier, will commence on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 operating three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Take-off from Harare will be at 6AM and arrival at 6.55AM in Lusaka during the three days of air service while departures in Lusaka are going to be at 7.25AM and arrival in Harare at 8.20AM.

“Fastjet will deploy a 50-seater Embraer ERJ145 aircraft for this service. The aircraft type is known to provide the versatility to build a sustainable regional network with the right size capacity while offering customers comfortable seating with generous legroom,” said the company in a statement on Tuesday.

Fastjet Zimbabwe spokesperson Nunurai Ndawana is quoted on the company website saying they were delighted to introduce a route between the two regional cities.

“Zimbabwe and Zambia have a symbiotic relationship that cuts across multiple sectors. The introduction of this route attests to our commitment and contribution to further economic and social development of the Zim-Zam region. For ten years Fastjet Zimbabwe has been a proud part of the Zimbabwean community and we are delighted to expand our commitment to Lusaka,” he said.

Donahue Cortes, Fastjet Zimbabwe Business CEO and Country Head is also quoted saying, “No other airline gives travellers an early morning flight option on this route. Our flight timings are designed to provide both business and leisure passengers with a full day’s activities in their city of arrival.”

“We continue to focus on developing and growing our business morning flight schedule and the Lusaka early morning departure joins other Fastjet sunrise flights to Bulawayo and Johannesburg,” he said.

The new route is seen as a welcome boost to trade, investment, and tourism in both countries as Harare and Lusaka serve as key centers for such.

With improved air access, business professionals are set to benefit from more efficient travel options, facilitating stronger bilateral trade relations and economic growth.

The introduction of the early morning departure also allows business travellers to maximize productivity by enabling same-day return trips.

Fastjet’s schedule aligns with corporate needs, providing a hassle-free experience for executives and entrepreneurs who require flexible and time-sensitive travel options.
