GWERU – A man suspected of killing his girlfriend, a student teacher at Guinea Fowl High School in Gweru, has been found dead.
Midlands police believe Valentine Tamuka Zireva, 27, hanged himself shortly after the January 24 killing of Keener Tsanana, a student teacher on attachment from Mkoba Teachers College. His decomposed remains were found just outside the school’s perimeter.
Police spokesman Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said they were treating Zireva’s death as a suicide.
Police had named Zireva, himself a student teacher at Hillside Teachers College, as their only suspect after the discovery of the science teacher’s body at a house at the school.
Zireva had arrived a day earlier to spend the weekend with Tsanana.
Police believe Tsanana died a violent death based on injuries noted on her body, including a swollen forehead and multiple bruises.
