GWERU – A student teacher at Guinea Fowl Secondary School in Gweru has been found dead, allegedly murdered by her boyfriend.

Police have named Valentine Tamuka Zireva, 27, as a person of interest in their investigation into 21-year-old Keener Tsanana’s death on January 25.

Tsanana had been dead for several hours when her body was discovered at a house used by a maintenance man at the school, which she had rented for the weekend for some privacy during Zireva’s visit.

Student teachers use rooms attached to dormitories at the school and Tsanana had vacated hers for the weekend.

Zireva, a student at Hillside Teachers College in Bulawayo, taught at Guinea Fowl during his teaching practice but had returned to college to complete his studies.

Tsanana, a science teacher, was a student at Mkoba Teachers College in Gweru.

National police spokesman Commissioner Paul Nyathi said: “Tsanana was found dead with a swollen forehead and bruises all over the body.

“The victim’s boyfriend Valentine Tamuka Zireva is being sought in connection with the case. Anyone with information should report at any nearest police station.”
