HARARE — The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) on Thursday said it had secured a 1.4-hectare piece of land in Harare for the construction of its first permanent headquarters, marking a significant milestone after 32 years of renting offices.
Outgoing PSL chairman Farai Jere, whose term ends December 31, said the project includes plans for modern offices, a training center, a football pitch, a conference facility, and residential apartments. The site will also house offices for women’s football.
“This is a historic moment. For over 32 years, the league has operated without a permanent base. This development signifies a new era for Zimbabwean football,” Jere said at the unveiling ceremony.
Jere, who is eyeing the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) presidency in elections set for January 25, said the land acquisition fulfills one of his final objectives as PSL chairman.
The election will pit him against Walter Magaya, Nqobile Magwizi, Temba Mliswa, Martin Kweza, Phillemon Machana, and others, all of whom must pass an ethics and integrity test.
The construction project aims to align PSL operations with international standards, bolster club licensing compliance, and provide a foundation for future growth.
“This site will serve as a home for the PSL, honouring the legacy of past players and administrators while paving the way for sustainable development,” Jere said.
Representatives from league sponsors Delta Beverages, Harare City Council, and the Sports and Recreation Commission attended the event, which Jere called a collective victory for Zimbabwean football.
