HARARE – England-based Warriors captain Marvellous Nakamba has gifted Collins Mnangagwa with his Luton Town Football Club jersey.

Collins is one of the twin sons to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

During his international break to take part in the Warriors’ 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Nakamba, 30, took time in Harare to hand Collins his jersey in a symbolic friendly gesture towards the first family.

The former Aston Villa footie has visited President Mnangagwa before where he has also gifted the national leader with his jersey for the EFL Championship club.

His earlier visit to the President elicited strong resentment from trolls who accused the former Bantu Rovers star of using his international profile to endorse Mnangagwa’s controversial rule.

President Mnangagwa’s name evokes resentment from a section of the population that feels the 82-year-old Zimbabwe strongman has failed the country through controversial policies and alleged poll theft and failure to deal with corruption among his cronies.

Meanwhile, Nakamba and his father Antony have both congratulated ZPC Hwange following their recent promotion into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

The club won the ZIFA Southern Region Division One title, an achievement that earned it entry into the big boys league.

ZPC Hwange holds a special place in the Nakamba family’s hearts.

Antony Nakamba, now retired, played for the club in the early years of the club’s Division One campaign, which has seen the outfit end nearly 30 years of waiting to join Zimbabwe’s topflight football.

“Obviously as a family we are very excited that our home side has been promoted,” Marvelous said.

“It holds a special place in our hearts because it is the first professional side my dad played for. If I am not mistaken it may have been in their maiden campaign in Division One.

“Growing up there was always that talk that it was my dad’s team, so naturally I have a soft spot for it.”
