HARARE – A 25-year-old Harare woman died a painful death after she was run over by four vehicles that were following each other with three of the drivers all failing to stop at the freak accident scene.
The incident, according to police, happened in Harare’s Eastlea suburb this past Tuesday.
“Police in Harare are investigating a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 1 October 2024 along R Mugabe Road near VID Eastlea. A Toyota Hiace kombi with eight passengers on board hit a yet to be identified woman (approximately (25),” police posted Friday on their official handle.
“As a result, the victim fell on the ground and was run over by three unidentified vehicles which were driving behind the Toyota Hiace kombi. The three other vehicles did not stop after the accident.
“The victim died on the spot and was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for postmortem.”
Police appealed for information from the public that could help apprehend the offending motorists.
Meanwhile, in an almost related incident, police say they are investigating a hit-and-run road traffic accident which occurred along Amalinda Road near Boka Tobacco Auction Floors in Harare on Thursday.
“A haulage truck hit a man and did not stop after the accident. The victim sustained a broken leg and was referred to Sally Mugabe Hospital for treatment,” police said.
