HARARE – After ordering several unpopular recalls on elected CCC legislators and councillors, self-imposed interim party secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu has appointed himself Senator, according to a notice by ZEC.
The controversial politician is now set for swearing in in the country’s upper house.
According to ZEC Chief Elections Officer Utoile Silaigwana, Tshabangu is among a listed few politicians who include former legislator Kucaca Phulu set for the Senate.
Tshabangu has led several recalls on elected CCC MPs and councillors he claims were imposed as August 2023 election candidates by Nelson Chamisa, who unceremoniously quit the main opposition last month citing infiltration by the enemy.
