BULAWAYO – A gun was fired as two armed robbers raided a Mukuru money transfer outlet in Bulawayo’s Entumbane suburb on Friday.
The two robbers who drove off in a silver Honda Fit without number plates got away with a cash deposit box containing R13,350.
It was the second time the Mukuru branch at Nhliziyo Shopping Centre has been targeted in two years.
Police believe the robbers are the same that targeted Tottenham Services, a pay day lender in the same suburb, a week ago. They got away with an undisclosed sum of money.
Witnesses said the two robbers arrived shortly after 7AM and went inside Mlungu Dealers where the Mukuru shop is located.
“One of the men who was carrying a pistol fired one shot into the floor while demanding cash,” a customer who was inside the shop said.
Staff quickly handed over the cash box and the two robbers ran out, jumped into their car and drove off at high speed.
Police said the incident is under investigation.
