HARARE – In-form premiership side Ngezi Platinum has cut down its point difference with log leaders Highlanders to a tiny two following their 1-0 defeat of struggling giants Caps United in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match Day 19 headline fixture played at Bata Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Ngezi, placed second on the log standings, got their priceless goal off the boot of hard-working skipper Qadr Amini who scored from a set piece.
The victory takes the Mhondoro-Ngezi side’s points tally to 36, two shy of Highlanders who play bottom placed Black Rhinos at Barbourfields on Sunday.
In other Match Day 19 matches played Saturday, defending champions FC Platinum’s woes continued after they played to a 1-1 away draw with Cranborne Bullets at Nyamhunga Stadium.
Bulawayo Chiefs also shared the spoils with ZPC Kariba in a goalless affair at Luveve stadium.
At Baobab, Simba Bhora lost by 1-0 to on-and-off former champions Chicken Inn while Herentals College were 1-0 victors over Green Fuel.
Match Day 19 fixtures continue on Sunday with Highlanders hoping to restore their five-point advantage when they play Rhinos at home.
