HARARE – Two Chinese nationals were robbed of US$100,000 cash and a handgun after six men stormed their residence in Harare’s Greendale suburb last Friday, police said.
Wang Zhou and Feng Zhou, the victims of the attack, reportedly have interests in mining.
Police have been told that the huge amount of cash was brought in from China to be invested in the mining operations.
In a statement on Monday, police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said: “Police in Harare are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at a certain house along Court Road in Greendale, Harare on July 7, 2023.
“Six unknown suspects attacked a security guard and complainant before stealing US$100,000 cash, a pistol, a mobile phone, blanket and two 2L bottles of cooking oil.”
Police have appealed for the public’s help to find the robbers.
