HARARE – Dynamos continued with their woeful start to the 2023 Zimbabwe premiership campaign when they allowed Ngezi Platinum to claw back from a goal behind and win 2-1 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match Day 11 clash played at Baobab Sunday.

Fellow giants Highlanders and Caps United also failed to impress when they both surrendered their leads to allow opponents to force 1-1 draws in their encounters.

But the headline match of the weekend’s fixtures was the clash between Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum who reclaimed top spot with the victory against Dembare.

Dynamos, who were desperate for a win after four depressing draws in succession, took the lead through Donald Mudadi after 42 minutes.

But the giants could not hold on to their lead when Takunda Benhura levelled the scores three minutes from the break.

Dynamos’ horror was confirmed after 75 minutes when Qadr Amini broke his former paymasters’ hearts with a winning strike.

Dembare last won a premier league match on 30 April this year when they beat city rivals Caps United 2-0.

The mood was not too different in Bulawayo where Highlanders surrendered top spot on the premiership ladder when they allowed visiting Green Fuel to force a 1-1 draw at Barbourfields.

Bosso got their goal through Melikhaya Ncube’s setpiece on the half hour mark only for the ethanol producers to cancel their advantage through a Nqobile Ndlovu strike five minutes from the break.

It is the fifth straight draw for the Bulawayo giants.

Caps United also threw away their lead to allow visiting Simba Bhora to force a 1-1 draw.

William Manondo struck to give the hosts the advantage after 9 minutes into the match while Tinashe Balakasi snatched the equaliser with just a minute plus injury time left on the referee’s clock.

In another match, Triangle United and Sheasham drew 0-0.

Following their victory, Ngezi Platinum now occupy top spot on 20 points while Highlanders are second with 19 points.
