HARARE – Reigning premiership soccer star of the year Walter Musona’s first half effort powered FC Platinum to a well-deserved 1-0 victory over Black Rhinos in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match Day 11 clash played in front of nearly 300 supporters at the National Sports Stadium Saturday.
Norman Mapeza’s men dominated the game with some sleek passing football and could have scored five goals had their strikers been more precise in front of goal.
Black Rhinos had a disjointed start to the game but picked momentum towards the end of the first half.
The basement outfit came back from half time a more determined side but had few moments to try to level the scores, thanks to a solid visitors’ defence.
The victory by FC Platinum took the reigning premiership champions’ points’ tally to 18 and as they drew level with log leaders Highlanders who now have a game in hand.
Rhinos remained anchoring the log with just 6 points from 11 games played.
In other Match Day 11 matches played Saturday, Bulawayo Chiefs drew 1-1 with Cranborne Bullets at Luveve while Manica Diamonds lost 1-0 to Yadah in a clash played at Gibbo.
On Sunday, Caps United entertain Simba Bhora at the National Sports Stadium while Triangle and Sheasham square off at Gibbo.
Highlanders date Green Fuels at Barbourfields with Ngezi Platinum taking on Dynamos at the National Sports Stadium.
On Monday, ZPC Kariba play Chicken Inn at the National Sports Stadium to put the lid on Match Day 11 round of fixtures.
