HARARE – Ngezi Platinum pummeled ZPC Kariba 5-1 at Baobab to gain top spot in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League log standings while Manica Diamonds also trashed visiting Black Rhinos 4-0 in another Match Day 7 tie played at Gibbo on Saturday.

In Bulawayo, visiting Yadah got a baptism of fire after being beaten 2-1 by Bulawayo Chiefs.

Following Saturday’s round of Match Day 7 clashes, Ngezi moved to top spot with 13 points to their tally and test the summit for the first time since the start of the 2023 premiership campaign.

Match Day 7 continues Sunday with a potentially explosive derby between old rivals Caps United and Dynamos at the National Sports Stadium.

Both teams have had a reasonably good start to their current premiership campaign.

Caps United would be hoping to get back to top spot with a victory against their Harare neighbours while Dynamos wants to restore their championship chase following two demoralising defeats recently to Highlanders and Bulawayo Chiefs in the Independence Cup and in a premiership clash.

In other matches scheduled for Sunday, Triangle United host Chicken Inn at Gibbo with unbeaten Highlanders hosting Hwange at Barbourfields.

Cranborne Bullets date Sheasham at Baobab with Herentals taking on champions FC Platinum at the National Sports stadium to complete the weekend’s round of fixtures.
