ZVISHAVANE – A Zvishavane family was left distressed after a domestic worker disappeared with its 8-month-old member just a day after she got the job.
The 16-year-old maid, identified as Evidence Hove, was reported to have left her employers’ house on Monday 10 April with the infant.
According to the child’s mother, Memory Sibanda, the maid did not take her own possessions when she left with the child.
“We stay in Zvishavane house number 1054 Mandava.
“We are facing a challenge with the girl we had employed as a domestic worker.
“Her name is Evidence Hove. We employed her on Sunday 9 April.
“When I inquired about her identification details, she said she did not have any as she was an orphan.
“On Monday morning, I left her in the custody of the children to go and look for some medication.
“I received a call that she had left with the baby. Upon arrival at home, I discovered that she did not take anything else except the baby.”
The infant’s father Admire Mangena implored anyone with information on the whereabouts of the child to contact their nearest police person.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said he was yet to receive details of the case.
