HARARE – Dynamos have announced former Black Rhinos coach Herbert ‘Jompano’ Maruwa as new club head coach, replacing Tonderai Ndiraya who was in charge of the Glamour Boys’ technical department up to the end of the 2022 premiership season.

In a statement Tuesday, Dynamos spokesperson Tinashe Farawo said Maruwa’s appointment is with immediate effect.

“The club has with immediate effect appointed Mr Herbert Maruwa as head coach of the senior team,” Farawo said.

“His assistants would be announced in due course.”

Maruwa suffered an inglorious exit from the army side July this year after he was linked to incidents of using juju to try and win matches.

However, the football mentor, who had a five year stint with Rhinos, denied ever encouraging the use of black magic to influence the outcome of matches, insisting he believed in training and hard work.

Maruwa’s job will however not be an easy one as he takes charge of a club with a highly demanding fan base used to a team winning trophies in past years.

Things have not been as smooth for the country’s most successful football outfit that last lifted the league championship trophy some many years ago.

Dynamos finished the 2022 premiership season on position number three.

The position was however not enough to pacify a highly demanding club faithful.
