JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Zimbabwe captain Knowledge Musona is poised for a switch to KAS Eupen after struggling for a place at RSC Anderlecht.
The 29-year-old striker is determined to remain in Belgium and snub a move to South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns who were reportedly ready to end his nightmare.
KAS Eupen said Musona had joined their winter break training camp in Doha, Qatar, for a trial.
“Zimbabwean international Knowledge Musona joins KAS Eupen’s training camp at the Aspire Academy,” the club said.
“The 29-year-old offensive midfielder and attacker of RSC Anderlecht arrived in Doha on Wednesday evening and will be tested at KAS Eupen.”
Should Musona impress, KAS Eupen could offer him a deal as they seek more firepower upfront to escape relegation.
KAS Eupen are currently 13th in Belgium’s 16-team premier division – only eight points better than bottom-table Cercle Brugge.
With just 17 goals from 21 matches, KAS Eupen have the worst goal-scoring record in the league, which would explain their interest in a proven goalscorer.
