HARARE – The Miss Tourism Zimbabwe pageant set to be held Nyanga this weekend was postponed after a bus carrying the models overturned in the eastern highlands.
The bus hurtled off the road on a slope on the Mutare-Vumba road on Wednesday night before landing on its left side.
The models underwent medical tests in Mutare on Thursday and none of them suffered any major injuries, one of the organisers said.
“They were understandably shaken, but they have all been given the all-clear. They will return to their families and the finals will now be staged on December 21 at the Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare,” Busi Dube-Muleya said.
The Shelton Tours bus running a ZUPCO service was carrying 27 people, including the organisers and officials from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.
Police said 10 people had suffered minor injuries and received treatment at Murambi Clinic in Mutare.
Organisers were forced to postpone the pageant finals which were due to be held at the Montclair Hotel & Casino.
