JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Big Brother Africa star Vimbai Mutinhiri is engaged to marry her boyfriend of two years, the Nigerian hotelier Andrew Ekpenyong.
The 32-year-old shared the good news with her fans on social media on Sunday after Ekpenyong surprised her with an engagement ring during a trip to South Africa over the weekend.
The couple were out for dinner when the Nigerian popped the question with the help of staff at the celebrity eatery, Signature Restaurant, in Sandton.
“God’s time is the best time #MyAfricanFairytale,” she posted on Twitter with pictures of her sparkling engagement ring.
Vimbai, the daughter of politicians Tracy and Ambrose Mutinhiri, represented Zimbabwe in the Big Brother Africa reality TV show in 2011. After Big Brother, she was chosen as the new presenter for the entertainment and lifestyle show, ‘Star Gist’, on Africa Magic Entertainment.
The University of Cape Town politics, philosophy and economics graduate moved to Nigeria after Dstv migrated ‘Star Gist’ to the West African country.
Thirty-three-year-old Andrew runs a family hotel in Nigeria’s tourist hotspot of Calabar. He is the youngest son of Chief Asuquo Ekpenyong, a powerful tribal leader from Cross River State. His elder brother, Asuquo Jnr, works as the commissioner of finance for Cross River State.
