HARARE – The 16-year-old Harare girl behind the shock murder of a 35-year-old ex-lover in Harare’s Hatcliffe suburb last Wednesday has been remanded in custody by Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.
The teenager, who cannot be named for ethical reasons, knifed Amos Mhere during a shebeen brawl in the late hours of Wednesday evening.
She was arrested and charged with murder.
She appeared before Mangosi who remanded her to November 18 pending age estimates as she claimed she had no birth certificate.
The state alleged that on November 2, the girl had a misunderstanding with Mhere during a beer drinking spree.
The girl allegedly stabbed the now deceased on the left side of the chest with a kitchen knife.
A video of the minor being interrogated by some persons who witnessed the drama has since gone viral on social media.
In the video, the girl who is in handcuffs and sitting next to the body of the victim, claims she only stabbed the deceased once and could not recall where she stabbed him.
The state also alleged that a postmortem is yet to be conducted to determine the cause of the deceased’s death.
